Using a ‘hands-on’ approach, children’s mathematical ability is progressed. We use specific Montessori materials to develop basic counting, writing, sequencing, adding, subtraction, multiplication and division. Children at a very young age are helped to understand mathematical concepts and qualities such as size, weight, measurement, height, sharing, matching, sorting, and manipulation.
The key focus here is to enable the child to move from the concrete to the abstract; from simple to the complex and from the unknown to the known. By understanding concepts, we give the child the opportunity to develop ease in mathematics and provide them with a solid base on which they can build.
